StickyPad – Virtual Sticky Notes on Your Desktop
Review by on
If you have trouble remembering things you have to do, there are two ways to go about it. You could for example get a stack of sticky notes, write down what you need to remember, and then stick them to a surface. That’s what my significant other does – her monitor is cluttered with so many sticky notes it drives me crazy. I on the other hand take the software approach – which now that I think about it is also the eco-friendly way because no paper is wasted.

Getting back to the topic at hand, my approach is to turn to software and let a useful application lend a helping hand. In this situation the application that can prove to be useful is the Green Eclipse-developed and aptly named StickyPad. What does the application do? Why I thought it obvious – it lets you place sticky notes on your desktop.

So while my significant other uses real paper sticky notes and cluttering the monitor, I use an application like StickyPad and put virtual sticky notes on my desktop while keeping a clean monitor. If I really want to use up some paper, I can always print my StickyPad notes. On top of that I get a bit of functionality that traditional sticky notes could never offer – paste notes into other applications, email notes to others, hide notes, set up reminders, launch My Computer, Windows Media Player, Notepad and Calculator from the StickyPad system tray icon (or customize it to launch other things).

Before you go get StickyPad and put it to the test, take a quick look at the technical details presented below:
Download – the download weighs in at 47KB, which is incredibly lightweight. Even on a lousy internet connection, it will take but a moment to get StickyPad off the web and onto your computer.
Supported OS – at the time of writing this and according to the developer, StickyPad works on Windows NT 4.0 SP6, 95, 98, 2000, ME, Server 2003 and 2008, XP, Vista, and Windows 7. The developer pointed out that StickyPad has been tested primarily on Windows 7.
Limitations – there are no limitations. You can use StickyPad free of charge for as long as you want.
